Hotel Cornelia lies at 1,900 m in Sulden, in the heart of the Stelvio National Park. From the hotel you can hike straight to alpine pastures and mountain huts.

The choice ranges from gentle walks through alpine rose thickets to rock and ice tours, with plenty of mountain huts along the way to stop for a bite. And if you want to go higher: 14 peaks over 3,000 m frame the Sulden valley, led by the Ortler at 3,905 m, the highest mountain in South Tyrol.

In summer, too, the lifts carry hikers up the mountain. Hotel Cornelia’s summer weeks include discounted lift passes, plus e-bike and mountain bike hire.

The road to Sulden shares a stretch with the legendary Stelvio Pass road, which climbs all the way to the top of the pass at 2,757 m: a goal for cyclists with stamina.

Can I set off hiking straight from Hotel Cornelia?
Yes. Hotel Cornelia lies at 1,900 m in the heart of the Stelvio National Park. The trails to alpine pastures, mountain huts and summits around Sulden start in the village.
Does Hotel Cornelia offer guided hikes?
Yes, once a week the hotel organises a guided hike: either to a mountain hut above the glaciers or along old wartime trails.
Are there via ferratas in Sulden?
Yes, two: one leads to the summit of the Tschengelser Hochwand, the other runs from the Payerhütte down to the Tabarettahütte. Both are demanding and intended for experienced mountaineers.
Can I hire an e-bike in summer?
In the summer weeks, e-bike and mountain bike hire is included, along with discounted lift passes. For other dates, just ask the Knoll family. More under Summer weeks.
What else is there to do in Sulden besides hiking?
In the forest at the head of the valley there is a Kneipp water-therapy area. Along the Sulden culture trail you’ll find the EVOPÄD balance course, with seven stations for young and old. For day trips, see Excursions around Sulden.
